Krabi - The land of smiles and beaches

(Unfiltered)

After months of eager anticipation, the post exam beach getaway finally realized itself on 26th May. It was better than expected, nothing short of amazing. Every bit of the trip, from the flight, to the hotel, to the food and to the activities planned out, were amazing. But all that, would not have been made possible without the awesome easy going bunch of people on the trip <3

I have always loved the outdoors, so liberating, so serene. It is God's creation at its best and that was what krabi offered me. A week of much needed escape from everything in SG. Where the sky meets the endless miles of seafoam green/blue sea, the occasional dotting of giant rock formation liked islands strewn with sand stretching far and wide, the sunkissed feeling, seabreeze, the sound of the waves....*trills off*

I will call it soul food and I am in love with this feeling.

In all i spent around only SGD500 + for the above and transport and i dare say it is
so worth every penny spent except for the meal on the first night and the misunderstanding on day 5's island tour.
With that said everything fell perfectly into place  Heavy black heart

=======================================================================
Day 1: Arrived at Krabi 330pm (SG 430pm). Took the airport transfer which we booked via krabishuttle.com. It was approximately a 45min ride from Krabi International Airport to our hotel at Aonang. When we got there, we were given welcome drinks by the hotel staff, called Red Pakasai (which we later found out heh).The drink was red and there was a slight hint of ginger flavour to it. Not overbearing, i like :D Plus how clever it is to have a welcome drink to match the resort's name hehe.

All the rooms have an attached balcony and they were all spacious and well ventilated. We got two rooms overlooking the pool while the third one overlooked the streets outside the hotel. I must say, that Red Ginger Chic Resort deserves a Double ThumbsUp from the rooms to the staff service to the overall ambience. The only downside was that it is not located along the main streets of Aonang so walking over would probably take around 6 mins but for the price we got it for there really isnt much to fuss about. In fact, i personally do not mind walking the additional distance, walking around discovering the different less bustling streets of Aonang, all adds up to the experience here right :D Plus who would have known that the street food near our hotel tasted so good and cheap (Double yay!!) if we didnt venture to this side of Aonang.

After settling down, we went around Aonang looking for local travel agents that would provide the best rate for the activities we wanted. Eventually we settled our activities at this agent's office just around the corner of the Thai Tourist Police station near our hotel! Guess we were all too tired and hungry to carry on looking for agents plus this guy did provide rather reasonable rates and it fit all the things we wanted to do...so as you can guess, we booked all of it with him. Bargaining is a must though, but maybe cause of the size of our group and the number of activities we booked, it was easier for us to haggle for a lower price. In all for 3 days worth of activities we paid 3400 baht.
The streets of Aonang were flanked by massage parlours, eateries of various cuisines and clothing stores selling all sorts of beach essentials and souvenirs. Tour agent booths were also a common sight, so you can be sure that there will one that will suit your budget and plans. With that said, i think most charge around the price:/
Spent the rest of the evening walking around looking for dinner places to satisfy our hunger and exploring the streets. Eventually we settled our dinner at some indian thai western ( i know they actually have a fusion of three LOL) eatery. Cant recall the name but the place was stamped with a TripAdvisor stamp. Well, the servers were pretty friendly and the store rather packed (there were quite a number of singaporeans!)  but i cant speak too well of the food...the most expensive meal we ate in the whole trip and probably one of the worst tasting in my opinion at least!

Ordered this to share with mao. Not nice, i expected more from you basil chicken >:(
Headed back and got ready for Day2's  adventure.
Excited!!!

Till then ~
