Krabi - The land of smiles and beaches part II
ATV, Elephant trekking, White water rafting day!!!
Cheers to all my virgin tries today HEH.
❤
The day before, the tour agent told us that the mini bus will arrive at 8am to pick us up and knowing that breakfast was from 7-10am....i got up at an unearthly hour of 545am (IKR, kiasuness at its best). Then again, 545am krabi time is in fact 645am in SG..okay correction, i'm fine by that standard :D Anyhow we were the earliest at breakfast!
Such a pretty breakfast setting, overlooking the pool with warm streams of light creeping in through the blinds and soft music in the background...not to mention their international breakfast spread were more than substantial and tasted pretty good and for the price we paid, i'm won over.
Say hello to my creation!
The bus came and off we went to our very first pit stop , the Monkey Cave Temple. The journey took approximately 1h 30min since the temple as well as the activities we were going to have were located nearer Phuket.
(Image heavy post!!)
HELLO 黑 de (black one) and Billy
morning faces!
Monkeys Monkeys everywhere. Feeding is allowed here, with ladies selling food for the feeding of monkeys. I thought i would be intimidated by the monkeys at first, but thank god none of that. The monkeys were very much minding their own business, cleverly going at those who offered food to them. Dont even think they will approach poor folks like you Mb!! heh. This was only a 20 min stopover, nothing much other than the monkeys outside the cave and the cave housing buddha statues itself, which you have to pay 20 baht to enter. Guess the cave wasn't that much of a hit compared to our furry creatures outside, which i must say pretty much reminded me of my macRitchie days LOL
Selfie stick likka boss in the cave #proudowner
Next it was about a 30min odd drive towards our next location for the rest of the activities.
A turn from the main road, led us to a narrower bumpier road into the forested area of Krabi , nearer the foot of the mountain, where the real fun beckons. Arrived at a stopover house for tourists that pretty much resembled a canteen in the middle of nowhere lol. There we were roughly told of the order of our activities and told to keep our belongings in the lockers provided. Then it was off to our first stop, Elephant trekking!!
1. Elephant Trekking 30 min
2. Flying Fox
3. White water rafting 5km
4. Lunch
5. ATV 30 min
Elephant trekking
It was just a short drive away from the stopover house to the elephant trekking site. Our elephant was called M and he is a boy according to our guide! Riding an elephant was quite an experience i must say! This is my second time riding, with the first being at the zoo -.- Anyhow, with the change in terrain everything felt like a roller coaster ride in slow motion lol. Moving slowly through the forest, there were sudden dips and bumps which were pretty scary!! So often i would have to force myself to erase the thought that maybe, just maybe the elephant may lose its footing..the fall would in no way be pleasant especially since some areas that we walked past were at the edge of some drop :X
I dont appreciate being a squashed up meibin D:
But well all we could was to trust the guide and surprisingly after a while it wasnt all that bad. Heh! Kinda started getting used to the sudden jerks! Anyway there are more than one elephant trekking location in krabi with varying terrains, so my terrain may be different from others, depending on who you booked the tours with!
Our guide came down to help us take pictures! While we headed back to the elephant shed without the guide! Now it will be a good time for M to make a run though lol~
This time round we took a truck back and look! Sat at the back of the open top truck!! hehe YOLO
Next up, flying fox. It was my first time and that feeling of my legs hanging above ground zipping through the course was so a good experience! Kinda wish it was longer.
White Water Rafting
Boarded another truck and this time we were off to another site for white water rafting!!! Excites ❤
For white water rafting, per raft could only accommodate 4 rafters plus two guides so we ended splitting up.
There are 4 different distance to choose from, 3km, 5km, 7km and 9km, depending on the package one buys, the prices varies as well. According to our guides, those with the longer routes started right from level 1(easy), for us however, we started off straight at level 3 and progressed to level 4, where things got a lot bumpier!!
It really was an experience rafting, all the bumping, getting wet, squeals, sudden drops, sudden change of direction, sticking leaves and flowers into our helmets, how we have to wait for the enough water to fill up the river before proceeding and how at times when we get stuck between large rocks and winded up having to bounce up and down the raft just so that the raft can bounce its way back to the current was so much fun.
Really felt like an adventurer sailing through the river. :D
Also knowing that we were in good hands was another plus point (: The river at some point did get a tad crowded, but it was a nice sight with all that bustling and laughter filling up the place. We did have a gopro with us, except i have yet seen the video, so below are the only two pictures i have for white water rafting.
Got the one of us on the raft for 100baht, pricey but worth the memory (':
At the end of it, we were the only to rafts left in the river. But this is where the good part comes in. To get to our trucks, we had to walk barefooted across muddy slimey ground for quite a distance, all that grimy stuff between our toes.. totally completed that adventurer experience lol.
Got back, washed our feet and we were served pretty yummy meals! Really loved the tempura pineapple and vegetables*slurps :D
Nawww 黑 de and billy so sweet ❤❤
ATV
Finally got to try the Mother of all activities for the day after about an hour of wait.
The ATV site was just behind our stopover house. So trilled!! Can't believe i'm finally getting to try my hands at this, after missing out on it in Jeju last year D: Headed down, geared up and off we were for a test drive to check on our turning.
i cannot contain my excitement anymore at this point!!
The sound of the reverberating engine and the smell of the exhaust adds up to the experience.. so gung-ho that feeling. We drove in a straight line, keeping a safe enough distance between each vehicle with the guide leading us at the front and the other at the back ensuring our safety(: Yay. Gripping tightly onto the handles for breaking and accelerating , we navigated through the likewise bumpy terrain with turns and slopes. This was made more fun, with the many large pool of puddles that formed around the route due a shower earlier in the day!
Revving up of the engine just to get myself out of the hole was so trilling!! At one point i revved so hard, mud splashed over my legs and i almost ran into the guide LOL. I will always remember how twice Jennifer had to scream my name cause i ran too hard over a root and ended tilting dangerously to the side, driving up the sides of the tree. To think back, i could have gotten pretty badly injured..but somehow i guess i was so focus that i negated the crises and drove through it like a pro (Proud moment^^). In our general opinion, this was the most fun activity of the day. Hearing how Jennifer keeps getting stuck or how Billy who didn't know how to handle the breaks and ended up skidding were all so epic... he got so dirty lol! Kinda wished i was at the back to witness all that but then again, i could have been a joke myself HEH :D
Washed our legs and off we were back to our hotel(:
Headed to the pool for a dip since we were still so trilled by just now and since it was only about 530, why not! We ordered drinks by the pool heh, this is where we found out the name of the complimentary drink that we got in my Day 1 Krabi post! Red Pakasai
Dinner was settled at this place called Blue Aquamarine. As recommended by the tour agent on the first day(: It is located along the streets of Aonang, a few shops away from Andaman Massage. Well this was indeed a worthy recommendation, the food was good and it was cheap!! Fruit shakes were 50baht, juices were 40baht and alcohol at only 100 baht, that is freaking about 4sgd!! Their coconut shake in my opinion tasted so good, By far the best i have tried in krabi ❤ YUM
Then it was off to explore further into the streets of Aonang and to find more cheap and good street food ❤❤❤
Nightly affair of supper, cheap alcohol and 40baht magnum icecream (though i'm not a fan!) especially the chicken and this thai fried noodle. This stall in the picture, which we went back almost every other day for their food, served really good thai fried noodles and chicken ❤ . Okay, i sound like i am promoting but the stall really does have its fair share of crowd and can i comment on how seemingly good the work ethics of the boss is! Despite the crowd, you can tell he serves his customers with such joy, making sure everything that has to be given to the customer is given, not shortchanging on for example ingredients when the business got more crowded. (:
Headed back for supper and this concludes my Day 2 in Krabi ❤
Day 1 here ^^
xoxo ~ Till then'
